Japan Open Golf Championship 2020

No.1 driving accuracy titleholder Yuki Inamori jumps up to aim for V2 at Japan Open

Known to be the "straightest hitter in Japan" Yuki Inamori has the chance to gain his second victory that this prestigious Major by scoring 68 on the rainy hard conditioned R3.
"I never thought I could do this well", said Yuki surprisingly, but it was marvelous 2 under round.

It was pouring heavy rain on dreadful long 7317 yards Par 70 course. Yuki is the titleholder of the driving accuracy average since 2015. Last time he has won at this Major, he never found the roughs on his final round. His ability to hit the shot so straight constantly is great advantage on tough Major settings, but with the heavy poring rain, he loses distance.

"My goal for today was to finish with even par. I tried not to think about my position on the leader board. I told myself to avoid any careless mistakes, but I gave myself some space for 1 or 2 bogies."

He played steady and made the turn with even par. Then on his Par 4 12th, his shot which went into the pond but made a miraculous skip shot out to the land, which spared him with only a bogey.

The course was drenched, so Yuki chose to use 1 club longer on most of the shots and went aggressive. He darted the pin on 18th with PW, which he recalls as his best shot of the day, gave him the 4th birdie of the round to close the day as 1 shot behind the leader.

Yuki's first Tour win was at this Major in 2018, and now he faces his chance for V2.
"I believe that tomorrow will be not battling against other players. It will be fight against the course. I really want to make the Major V2 happen."
