Takumi Kanaya manages to make the cutline on his Pro Debut tournament

"If you could make the CUT, every player still has the chance to win", said Takumi Kanaya. On his R2 of debut tournament as professional, he did have 2 suffering moments but was able to come through and make the cutline safely.
"I knew if I could perform as I planned, I will get my birdie chances. I am glad that it worked out."

Takumi started out at 2 over Par, stumbled with bogies on 12th and 15thwhich made him plunge down to 4 over, which was the cutline. He got back on the track at 16th where he drained the 4-meter left-to-right putt for birdie and went on to make it 3 birdies in a row.

On his back nine, he made another birdie at 2nd, but trouble awaited him at 4th. He double bogeyed yesterday, but again he had to suffer getting on from the fairway bunker and ended with another double bogey.
"Maybe I have negative feeling on this hole", he refrained.

Takumi also bogeyed next hole just like yesterday, but manage to bounce back on last 2 holes, which was also same as yesterday. He made 7-meter on 8th, and then stick right at the pin on 9th for ack to back birdies.

His score was going up and down like a roller coaster, but "I stayed concentrated and have done what I had to do".

When Takumi became the 4th ever amateur to win at the professional tournament at last year's VISA Taiheiyo Masters, he started off at 51T with 3 over Par.
"I tend to start out slow because it is mostly first time to play at professional tournament courses, but as I play on, I will get used to the atmosphere and get my game to adjust. I learned a lot playing along with Rikuya Hoshino and Ryo Ishikawa for these 2 days. Since I don't need to worry about cutline now, I think I will play more aggressive on the weekends. If you could make the CUT, every player still has the chance to win."
