The Crowns 2019

Brendan Jones Interview on the practice day at The Crowns

Q. How are you know after the win last week?
A. I am tired (ha ha). I went back to Australia for 6 days, and I had my kids on school holiday so, I don't feel rested. Today wasn't good day for my practice, but I know that once that the tournament starts, then I will be concentrating better than I did today.

Q. When did you come back to Japan?
A. On Monday.

Q. You have earned the ticket to the PGA Championship, how is your vision set?
A. It's exciting to be playing in the Major, I haven't played for quite a while. I think the last Major that I got in was PGA Championship 5 years ago and I didn't even play because I went to my friend's birthday party. So, its nice to be back. I would like to continue my form leading into PGA, because I haven't played my best golf in America. I know on my day I can play lot better than I have. I am excited that if I can have another 2 good weeks here in Japan and go to America full of confidence.

Q. What is your best result in the Majors?
A. I was doing quite well in Hazeltine quite few years ago, I finished 24th. But with 9 holes to play I think I was at top 5 or 6. So, I had bad last 9 holes at Hazeltine. Which I took really hard, because it was one of most disappointing finish that I ever had in my life. But for 63 holes I was at top 5 to top 10 of the tournament. I would like to think that, if I get into that position again, I would play lot better than what I did back then. That was the year that Y.E Yang beat Tiger (2009).

Q. How is your confidence going into this week?
A. Not bad. Look, when you win you get a lot of confidence. As I said I feel very tired now, I just really need to prepare and get some rest. Once the tournament starts, then I get into tournament mentally. So, I've got my game plan and I just need to be able to stick to that and there is no reason that I can't have another good week.
