The first tournament of the Reiwa Era is also celebrating its 60th anniversary. This celebration was decorated by a big name. JGTO Chairman and 5-time winner of this tournament including the 3 in a row from 1980, Isao Aoki began the event as an Honorary Starter.

Isao has been away from tournaments since the one he played 2 years ago. He really wanted to practice his tee shot amongst the players, but the practice range is for the players in the field only.
He was swinging his driver behind the curtains but was so nervous when he saw the crowd. Ryo Ishikawa and Jumbo Ozaki was among the spectators waiting for Isao's shot.

Jumbo impersonated Isao's swing to make a few laughs, but still Isao was very tight. But there was no need for his worries. His perfect tee shot went straight and found the fairway.

"Since it is 60th Anniversary tournament and the first one for the Reiwa Era, many gathered to see the game and we are very thankful."
Isao placed his deepest appreciation on to his tee shot.

"I feel very honored to be able to have an opportunity like this. I look forward and will do whatever I can leading into year 2020."
