Mynavi ABC Championship Golf Tournament 2019

"Best cure for the stress is golf" answered Hiroshi Iwata still co-leader of the MyNavi

38 years old Hiroshi Iwata on his 16th year as a Pro keeps his co-leader position after the Round 2 of the MyNavi ABC Championship He is looking for his 3rd career victory which he hasn't been abel to grab for 4 years now.

He is known to be short tempered and he himself admits.
"I tend to get frustrated when I make mistakes. But this week I am calm. I don't have any frustrations for the past 2 days."

He says his putting was not so great as it were yesterday where he shot 65. But he did make 10-meter on the 16th for birdie to score 4 birdies and a bogey to card in 69.
"I'd say 69 is fairly good score."

Hiroshi made his first ever victory in 2014, on his 11th year as a Pro, at the Fuji Sankei Classics. And on that same season in November, he finished at 3rd, just 1 shot behind the winner at HSBC Champions. This result gave him the chance to play in US PGA Tour for 2015-26 season. But he failed to keep his tour card.

He came back to Japan Tour from 2017, but he says, "I wish I could go back to US and challenge ASAP."
Hiroshi eagerly wants to have the chance to be back on US PGA, but he had to watch his fellow players on TV as they were competing in the inaugural PGA event in Japan, ZOZO Championship. His college senior, Hideki Matsuyama was making a great battle with Tiger Woods.
"I wish Hideki could have won."

As he cheered for Hideki, he also felt left out from the elite club, as he wasn't a part of Japanese players in ZOZO Championship field. He just could help feeling jealous about it.

Hiroshi is also struggling the slump that he is having with his shots.
"I still feel very uneased with my swings. It always feels not right, I never felt good on my swings, so in other words, if my swing doesn't feel awkward, then it will feel awkward."
This is very Hiroshi-like way of saying, almost like a Zen Dialogue.

He says, he has this perfect swing image inside him and cannot compromise.
"If I can't perform the perfect swing, the awkward feelings will never go away. Everybody thinks I like drinking, but actually I don't. They make me drink because I annoy them. Drinking doesn't fade away my frustrations. Golf is the only cure for my stress."

He used his off time last week to do basic training, even running which, he hates. He is really pushing himself to become better. Surely, the best cure for his stress is to win this week.
