Ryuichi Oiwa again finishes well on the top portion of the leader board after 2R

3rd year professional Ryuichi Oiwa finished his 2R with bogey free 67 to become 2T into the weekends. His score looks great, but it had variety of good and rare shots.

On 585 yards Par5 5th, his 2nd shot from 255 yards caught the green and made 2 putt for birdie. Then on 16th, he made creative shot going under the branches with 4I on his 2nd shot to front of the green and his short game spared him with tap in birdie.

But on other hand, he did make very rare miss shot at 3rd hole with his 3W on the tee. He dribbled the tee shot and laugh at himself with a bit of shame. But he made 1-meter putt to save par and made up for the mistake.

He has entered 10 tournaments this year and out of 6 tournaments that he made the cutline, he finished within Top 10. He made himself into contention several times. He says, he dreamed about his happy future during his off weeks in July.
"I was dreaming that if I could keep up, getting the chance for ZOZO Championship and JT Cup could come true. But I went too ahead. I did turn professional in 2018, but with many tournament being cancelled last year, this year is like my first season on the Tour. I don't have experiences in many of the courses. So, I told myself not to go daydreaming and stay concentrated on the each and every shot in front of me."

This humbleness, and his 182 cm height is giving him great distance advantage. Also, his ping type putter that he was given when he was 5th grader in elementary school is making great putts. He re-shafted from 31 inches to 33.5 inches as he grew older, but the putter head has not been changed for over 10 years.

He chooses other putter, when his ace putter seems not a fit, so that he won't get bad images on his ace putter.
"I am confident that there is nothing wrong with my putter, so I just think that green doesn't match my putter. This makes me stress free, even I miss the cut. For me most of the tournament courses are my first time to play. There are courses I could adjust and couldn't. It might seem that I am having ups and downs on my game, but that is not the fact. My game has been the same since the opening event. I missed the cuts in 4 tournaments, but that is just because I lack experience or technic, that's all. I like the speed of the green this week, so I think I could play much better on the weekends."
