Panasonic Open Golf Championship 2021

Shugo Imahira's "Consecutive Cuts Made" record came to a stop

Current and 2 years in a row Order of Merit Champion, Shugo Imahira's "Consecutive Cuts Made" record came to a stop. He has missed the cutline this week and his record stopped on his 42nd tournament.

Shugo has been constantly making the cutline since 2019 season's opening tournament "Token Homemate Cup" until last week, which counts up to 41 tournaments. He was 3 more tournaments away from becoming 4th on "Most Consecutive Cut Made" record, which is now held by Jumbo Ozaki, who kept making the cutline for 43 consecutive tournaments (from 1987 Mizuno Open up until 1989 Fuji Sankei Classic).

Shugo did know about this record as he was told by his caddy. He started his 2R at 82T at 1 over par. He tried to make charge today, and at one moment, he was safely inside the cutline, but he missed the 2.5-meter par putt on the final hole and finished at Even, 72T and he was 1 shot shy from making the cutline.

This year's venue for the Panasonic Open, Joyo CC is the course Shugo won his first career victory at Kansai Open back in 2017.
"I have good memories here, but I stumbles on the 1R and that effected big. I was playing well, so there wasn't anything else I could have done."
