Fujisankei Classic 2021

Co-leader Hyun-Woo Ryu found the secret strategy to conquer the monstrous Fujizakura CC

39 years old Hyun-Woo Ryu showed his expertise at Fujizakura CC by making 5 birdies and 3 bogey to score 68, finishing with total 5 under and became provisional co-leaders with Ryo Ishikawa and Tomoharu Otsuki after 2R.

Fujizakura CC, known as monstrous course which is now over 7500 yards in total length after the renovation. This Monster got even tougher with the pouring rain. But Hyun-Woo who has caught up from 4 shots behind and won the playoffs in 2017 says, "it is important to be not under stress even you make bogeys on this course and be wise to lay up on some of the holes".

On 5th, the longest Par 4 of the Tour with 535 yards, which had average stroke of 4.889 today, Hyun-Woo played safely to 1 putt to save par. He couldn't play not even 1 tournament in 2020 due to pandemic, but he knows how to tackle this course even it has been 2 years since the last appearance.
"I have good memories of this tournament. So, whenever I come here, I can get good score even I had some worries on my game."

Hyun-Woo Ryu used to be a bit chubby, but during the stay home period back in his home country Korea, he stayed away from even practicing, and didn't eat or drink alcohol much. Now he looks fit.
"I will stick to my plan to play safe on the weekend rounds, but if I come by chances, I would love to go after the victory."
