The Crowns 2021

Takumi Kanaya enjoyed his "debut" on his first ProAm games as a Pro

"This was my first ever ProAm games as a Pro. They were such a wonderful guests and I must have fun more than the amateur guests" smiled Takumi Kanaya, enjoying his first ever ProAm games as a Pro.

Takumi turned Pro last September, all of the 7 tournaments up until last week, Wednesday's ProAm games were cancelled due to the pandemic.

"I think I was more nervous than the tournament games, since it is a team match. I wanted to contribute, but my best chance for making birdie on 9th, I 3 putted. Guests were making birdies. I didn't do much."

For the Tour professionals, playing on the ProAm is equally important to playing on the tournament.
"Since today was my first time, I didn't know how I should have escorted the guests. I didn't know whether I should give advises. I felt some of them just wanted to enjoy playing golf. So I really couldn't figure out what would be the best hospitality."

Takumi's team score 7 under and became 21st.
"It was exciting, and I am relieved it went well today. A player must be a professional to be in the ProAm so this experience made me acknowledge that I did become a Pro."

The Crowns will celebrate its 61st year. Takumi has made appearance here in 2016 and 2019 as an amateur. He couldn't make in 2016, but he became the Lowest Amateur in 2019 as he finished 14th. In 2019, he was in the groupings with Jumbo Ozaki and Ryo Ishikawa.
"I was really nervous at that time, but I have great memories too. I wish that I could play well at this legendary tournament and win."
