Gate Way To The Open Mizuno Open 2021

Tatsuya Kodai a Mizuno sponsored Pro seeks to make a "Host Pro Victory"

Tatsuya Kodai shared his strong wish to become the Host Pro winner this week to give back his gratitude to his caring sponsor Mizuno. The venue for the tournament has returned to JFE Setonaikai Golf Club in Okayama Prefecture since 2017, and Tatsuya says, he has gained more distance than 4 years ago, which is giving him very good feeling toward the victory at the Pro-Am games on Wednesday.

"I was able to carry over the bunker which I couldn't before, and my choice of clubs are definitely changed. I have gained more distance and may course management is clearly different from the past."

Tatsuya turned Pro in 2007 at age of 17, and he first appeared to the Mizuno Open in 2014 as one of the Mizuno gear user. Then he has officially became the contracted Pro with the Mizuno in 2016.
"Mizuno has been taking really good care of me and I believe the best way to show my appreciation is to win at this tournament."
Last Mizuno sponsored player to win at Mizuno Open was Taichi Teshima in 2015, and Tatsuya seeks to become next.

"I have learned the hardships to win as a hosting Pro for the past years. I have been trying for a while. But this year I really want to make a good result."

Tatsuya is seeking to make this week his career V2. He has been on the role as co-Chairman of the Players' Committee and also a member of Fan Project, to make Japan Tour more exciting and entertaining for the golf lovers. Tatsuya is characterized as "not just a good looking player but also funny guy".
"I am a funny guy to begin with. It is unfortunate that spectators are not allowed yet, but we have been working hard on YouTube and other methods to make this Tour entertaining. I hope our effort in trying to connect with as many fans as possible is reaching. I hope the fans will enjoy more."
