Shigeo Nagashima Invitational Sega Sammy Cup 2021

Young-Han Song makes a great start after the summer break as a solo leader at Sega Sammy Cup

Young-Han Song who decided to spend his summer break here in Japan made a great start on Thursday at Sega Sammy Cup. He was in the early morning group and took the advantage of less windy condition to score big.

On Par 4 5th, his 2nd shot from 120 yards found the bottom of the cup directly for an eagle. Then from 6th, he went on to make 3 straight birdies. Young-Han made the turn with 6 under. He made 1 bogey and 2 birdies on his back nine to score 7 under 65 for the 1R.

"The air feels so clean here in Hokkaido and the food is all so delicious. I really love Hokkaido, it's the best."
Young-Han's joyful smile was so obvious even with a mask on.

Opposite from yesterdays pouring rain, today was a bright sunny day. Young-Han was able to hole out before noon and spent a good practice time at the range. Then he went to the Tour's official fitness car to get his body maintenance to prepare for tomorrow.

How to spend the 6 weeks of summer break was difficult to decide for the international players. Some decided to go home, some stayed. But if you go abroad, you must go through the 2 weeks of restraint period again.
"Many of the Korean players decided to go back, so I was lonely. It was difficult to decide, but I chose to stay in Japan."

Young-Han rented a temporary apartment room in Osaka, it was his first time to live alone. So, he took this chance to challenge to cook for himself. He made all sorts of Korean cuisine, and he says, "Kimuchi fried rice is excellent, I am surprised how good a chef I am", smiled proudly.

"But the hard part is after the cooking, you must clean up. I am also good with laundries. I also enjoyed watching the Olympics. I wish I was able to see it at the site. I was amazing to see 7 players playoff for the Bronze Medal. Having playoff for the 3rd place never happens in regular golf tournaments. It was great seeing the world top players fight so hard to achieve the Bronze Medal. I couldn't even try to become the representative since I was away for the military duties, but I would definitely want to challenge for the Olympics in Paris."
