Shigeo Nagashima Invitational Sega Sammy Cup 2021

Kazuki Higa may be small in size, but his dream is gigantic, and he has taken a giant step closer

One of Kazuki Higa's dream came true, to win at the Mr. Baseball Shigeo Nagashima's name crowned tournament.

Kazuki's height is 158cm, shortest among the Tour players, but he has made a giant step closer to his dream by winning his 2nd career victory.

Kazuki started out 2 shots behind the leader Kunihiro Kamii.
"I tried not to think about Kunihiro. Told myself not to mind about the deficit either since you cannot control the other players. I must concentrate on my game and accomplish my goal."

Today was the windiest condition of the tournament, but Kazuki stayed focused and struggled well.
"My aim was to get to total 20 under Par, if that was not good enough, well that's that."

Kazuki caught up with the leader by 13th and took the 1-meter birdie chance. Then on 14th, he nailed the 20-meter off the green to reach his goal 20 under, he went on to make 1.5-meter on 15th.

"I was too concentrated and didn't notice that it was 3 straight birdies, or also that 21 under was the new tournament record at that time. If I knew I would have been much careful and might have avoided the bogey on 16th."
Kazuki proudly grabbed his career V2 with tournament record tie score. Also, his wish to make his 2nd victory came a week earlier.

Next week at Sansan KBC Augusta, he will be defending his champion title, which was withheld for 1 year due to cancellation last year.
"This will be my first challenge to defend my title. I had focused on next week's tournament from the beginning of this year."
Now he will also have back-to-back victory added to his list.
"I want to perform my best and place myself into the contention for the Order of Merit race. Don't you think if a small guy like me become the Order of Merit champion will give many something to dream for? Many top athletes are well built, but if I could accomplish, I bet many like me will be motivated to aim for bigger dreams. I want to show that there is no handicap in dreaming."
