Komei Okada overcoming the terrifying "suspected infection" made super charge on R3

Komei Oda, 42 years old veteran has made a big leap on 3R with scoring 64, zooming up the ladder from 39th to 5T.

He started out from 10th, where he made chip-in eagle to start the day. Then he made long 13-meter birdie putt on 18th. After the turn he made 3 more birdies to be on the cruise control.

"I was able to make the bounce back from the sand 4 times."
As he recalled, he made 8-meter for par save on 8th, and another 8-meter on his final hole for birdie.

"I was really depressed on Tuesday, that I will not be in the field that time. I am just so grateful that I am playing here this week."

He was terrified on Tuesday as he thought he was infected by COVID-19. After coming back from the practice round, he took a bath and felt feverish. Checked his temperature, and it was 38 degrees Celsius.
"I have contacted JGTO right away and went to the hospital to have PCR test. Until I found out that I was not infected I was terribly worried. If I were infected? I was terrified about so many troubles I will be causing. I was worried about my family, and the players I had practice round with, about the tournament being cancelled, and the Tour and so many things. I was really relieved to hear that I was okay. I was having a panic attack."

His fever went away in the morning and he was allowed to be in the field.
"I still feel very sorry to the players that I had practice round with since they were locked in and couldn't practice on Wednesday. I am so glad that both made the cut. I told myself to be more careful than before. From now on, I will limit my moves to going back and forth between hotel and course."
