Japan Golf Tour Championship Mori Building Cup Shishido Hills 2021

Rookie on the Tour makes remarkable start with 3T finish at his debut on Shishido Hills

Among the familiar faces of the Regular Tour members, a 23-year-old new face made his debut on the Major. A rookie, Yuki Furukawa scored 67 to finish 3T after his 1st Round.

After the practice round, Yuki mentioned, "On the tough course like this, I would give myself perfect grade if I could play here with par play."

But contrary to his comment, he made great eagle on 2nd, and with 3 birdies and a bogey, me managed to play more than his expectation.
"I am surprised of my performance today. I was able to perform more than my ability. For that eagle, all of my shots and putt was perfect."

He also changed his putter from pin type to center shafted type.
"It felt good on practice and after I made 4-meter eagle putt on 2nd, I felt confident with it. As I got my confidence on my putting, I was able to feel relaxed and make my course management with not many risks."

Yuki started golf at 11, from his father's influence. He won the Kyushu Amateur in 2015, as he defeated Kazuki Higa during his Senior year in high school and also in 2018 on his Junior year in Tokai Kyushu University.

He challenged for QT on his Senior year, and turned Pro after his 3rd Qualify and he finished at 64 on the Final QT.

His favorite club is 1W and likes to make full swing with it.
"My goal is to give excitement and joy to the fans watching me play on the tournament."

He seems to have already made his goal on this season's first with spectator tournament.
