Golf Nippon Series JT Cup 2021

Yusaku Miyazato who grabbed the last-minute entry is giving himself great chance for V3 at JT Cup

Yusaku Miyazato, who slid into the entry list at the last moment to this week's JT Cup with a great course record performance on the final round last week at Casio World Open. He seems to have kept his great performance as he scored 66 on 1R and became 2T.

He started off with 2-meter birdie on 1st, then he made 3-meter for an eagle on Par 5 6th. He also drained 10-meter on 9th and showed that his bloomstick putter is still very hot.

He finished as solo 4th at Dunlop Phoenix 2 weeks ago and 2T at last week's Casio World Open to make big leap up the Money Rankings and became 26th enabled him to grab the ticket to season ending JT Cup at the last minute.

"I promised my family that I would treat them this weekend, since my season should have ended last week. I apologized. But my parents came all the way from Okinawa to see me play. My father was walking outside of the rope to follow me. I was little worried, but he seemed to be very energetic and enjoyed seeing me in action, so I am really happy."

"I was planning to watch this tournament on TV at home. I never thought I could be participating. I feel so lucky to be here, so there is no pressure for me. But as I played, I realized how tough this course was. It has been 3 years since I last played. I was really having fun at first, but as I went on, I remembered how this course's fairways get really narrow."

On the signature hole, Par 3 18th which is known for its really steep slope. In 2013 he made a dramatic chip-in par to take away the victory.

"I did make some dramatic shots here. Today's pin position was easiest, but I made bogey by getting caught in the right-side bunker."

Yusaku finished at 2T, but just 1 shot behind the leader. In 2007, he came into the tournament as No.2 on the Money Ranking and won the tournament by flipping 6 strokes deficit and became the Order of Merit Champion, and also first Players Chairman to do so.

"No.1, 2, and 3 seems to be a bit tired and having slow start, there might be a chance for me."
