Casio World Open Golf Tournament 2021

Yujiro Ohori playing with no pressure and self-expectation marks 67 to finish 3T

9th year professional Yujiro Ohori says he was playing without any pressure and no self-expectations, but his great performance was noticed by the field as he played with 7 birdies and 2 bogeys to score 67.

"My shots ended up in good line and gave me chances. I was also able to make nice saves even from the roughs."

He finishes his 1R at Casio World Open at 5 under 3T. This tournament determines who will survive or fall off on the Money Ranking Seed battle.

"Well, since I am already out of question, so there is no pressure for me."

Yujiro ranks at 156. In order for him to secure his Tour Seed for the next season, he must at least finish above 2nd place.

"I have no expectations on myself."

Yujiro is same grade as Hideki Matsuyama, Ryo Ishikawa and also Ryosuke Kinoshita who is in the great battle for Order of Merit title. During his senior year in university, Yujiro won Kansai Amateur Championship and also Japan Amateur Championship. He was one of the super amateurs same as Hideki and Ryo. He was able to achieve his Tour Seed on his 3rd year, 2016 but couldn't keep it after 3 years.

In this pro-longed 2020-21 season, Yujiro only made appearance in 4 tournaments. He is already shifted his mind toward the 3rd QT which is scheduled next week.

"I was able to come here thanks to the sponsor invitation. Today's performance was well beyond my ability. So, I will play quietly for rest of the tournament."

May be playing without any pressure is giving him some magic to play unexpected results.
