Mynavi ABC Championship 2021

Yosuke Asaji captures his career V3 on memorial 50th anniversary tournament at ABC Golf Club

Yosuke Asaji engraved his name as champion on the 50th anniversary tournament at Mynavi ABC Championship. He has captured his 3rd Tour victory following the win at ANA Open in 2019.

Final Round at ABC Golf Club was dead heat between Yosuke, Mikumu Horikawa and Tomohiro Ishizaka in the final group.

3 of the were all tied when they reached 17th. All 3 of them couldn't find the fairway and as other 2 laid up, Yosuke chose to play aggressive and went over the tree line from the deep roughs toward the green. This splendid iron shot not only caught the green but came to 7-meter to the pin and he also made that birdie putt to take the lead.

Then on final 18th, again other 2 failed on their tee shots and ended up in the deep left-side bunkers, while Yosuke successfully drove to the middle of the fairway. He safely got his 2nd shot over the water onto the green and made easy 2-putt birdie to close the deal. At the end, Yosuke made 2 shots lead against the other 2 on the final 2 holes to steal away the victory.

Yosuke also made magnificent shot on his 2nd shot from under the tree and stuck it to the pin on 7th, and also on 15th he gave himself 5-meter eagle chance by his 5W to catch up to the leader.

He won 2 victories in 2019, but with pandemic making many tournaments to be cancelled, it took a while for him to accomplish his 3rd victory.

"I was close to winning for so many times, but just couldn't make it. It felt really long until I achieved my 3rd victory. I had both good and bad points on my round today, but overall, I say my round was perfect."

He was congratulated by his buddies with big water splash.
