Tatsuya Kodai, director of fan project showed his affections to the fans as if crowd was with him

No matter there were no spectators on the course, director of fan project, Tatsuya Kodai acted as if there were many spectators surrounding him.

On last hole of his front nine 18th, his 2nd shot angle was blocked by a tree, but he went for the green with 2U and placed the ball to 40cm from 220 yards and took away an eagle.

No one was around the green, some staff made applauds but it was simply quiet, but Tatsuya acted as if there were a big crowd making big noise to praise him and waved towards imaginary fans so many times.

"I thought I should motivate myself mentally with imagination."

Tatsuya scored 67 and finished as 4T, 2 shots behind the leader. He was in the same groupings with Jinichiro Kozuma, who also played well with scoring 66.

"It feels very lonely not having the fans at the site, but we must appreciate that we are able to have the tournament under this pandemic circumstances. So, I want to play as if the fans were here to show my affections."

This season, he has only earned around 8,600,000-yen and ranks 74th on the Money List. He feels that he is on the bubble.

"But thanks to the sponsors we have 4 big purse tournaments left, so there is some chance for me."

Tatsuya accomplished his 1st Tour victory at this tournament back in 2017, on his 10th year as a professional.

"I was getting good feelings on this course starting from the practice round. I like fast greens and this course suites my shots. It is easier to make course strategy here. I am having Ryo Ishikawa's caddy on my bag this week and we are good match. He gives me good advice and we are making good strategies."
