Bridgestone Open Golf Tournament 2021

Yoshitaka Takeya solo 3rd after 2R says, "I just simply love this Sodegaura Course"

15th year professional Yoshitaka Takeya is on the challenge to keep his Tour Card for consecutive 7 seasons, but he says he is being calm about it. He has tapings wrapped around his neck, wrists and on his back, but he says he is enjoying the course he loves. As a good result, he became solo 3rd, just 2 strokes behind the leader with 9 under total after 2R.
"My game is all the same from yesterday. I do make mistakes, but I get chances to recover too. I do make bogeys, but I am blessed with birdies as well. Somehow, this course gives me good results."

His 1st appearance on this tournament was back in 2014 and he finished as 3T.
"Since that 1st experience, I really love Sodegaura Course. I like this course when I play bad too. It's not the score which makes me love the course, I just simply love the atmosphere. When I play bad, that's my fault and not the course."

Yoshitaka has been having problem with his putting lately, but when he came here, his worries were gone.
"I have been adjusting my grip, strokes, posture and eye angle. I know many players have same worries as I do. When things just don't add up right, I decided to change my putter this week."

Yoshitaka has earned his ticket to Japan Golf Tour Championship in 2014 by finishing as No.2 on the Money List on the Challenge Tournament. Then he won that Japan Golf Tour Championship and gained 5-year Tour Card. But he has been on the bubble to keep his Tour Card for past few years now. He is around 60th on the Money List for this 20-21 pro-longed season.

"I am on the bubble again, but as a professional I want to be on the Regular Tour for several more years. So, I must be focused and try my best to keep my card. There is not one day that I don't think about this, but I know that I shouldn't be so worried sick about it too much. I do have to take care of my family too, but I think I should think much deeper about my professional career and not get too nervous wreck about Money Rankings."
