Bridgestone Open Golf Tournament 2021

Tomoyasu Sugiyama marked tournament record tie 62 giving himself a big chance for 1st Tour V

6th year professional Tomoyasu Sugiyama is getting very close for his 1st Tour victory by playing bogey free with 9 birdies to score tournament record tie 62, on his first appearance at Sodegaura CC. He leads the field with 3 strokes going on to final Sunday.

He made tap in birdie on 2nd, went on making birdies on 4th and 6th, then after the turn, he made chip-in birdie on 10th. He made 2 birdies in a row on 12th and 13th, then on his finishing 3 holes he made consecutive birdies including anther chip-in on 17th.
"I was able to play perfectly."

Tomoyasu is known to be study worm of golf. He takes memos of the course and plan strategy at night until he goes to bed. He was told by Shingo Katayama that "you think about golf too much".

"I have listened to Shingo's advice and stopped studying at night, and it gave me great result today. This is my first appearance at Sodegaura CC, but this course is so similar to the course I belong to. So, I felt very comfortable."

Tomoyasu is official professional at Lake Wood Corporation. When he is not playing at the tournaments, he gives lessons to the members, and help out on course renovations.
"I check the practice range balls and give advice on the amount of the sand in the bunkers too. So, whenever I go to other courses, I take memo and report back, so that out course could improve. Sodegaura has great greens, it has no irregular rolls. And bunkers are hand raked, not by machine, this is wonderful. This course is beautifully taken care of. I also went to check out the club house restaurant. I wanted to know how many staffs are handling the guests."

Maybe Tomoyasu could give greater report back to his company if he could accomplish to make his 1st Tour victory tomorrow.
