Naoyuki Kataoka finished 2T disappointed but also excited to see star players at ZOZO Championship

Naoyuki Kataoka's chance for getting his 2nd Tour victory didn't come through. He started out 3 shots behind the leader Tomoyasu Sugiyama and ended up finishing with same margin. On his 1st Tour victory at Japan Players Championship, which was his 4th tournament to appear as a professional, and he succeeded in making a come from behind win reversing 5 stroke deficit.

"I was able to control my nervousness into concentration and was able to fucus on the shots in front of me."
He was able to catch up with Tomoyasu by 14th hole, as he took away his 6th birdie. But his shots suddenly lost accuracy on the finishing 3 holes.

He safely kept the fairway with choosing iron for tee shot on Par 5 16th, but his 2nd shot bent way left and landed in the back of sub green roughs. Then his 3rd shot again went over the green. He was barely managing to save par on Par 5. Meanwhile, Tomoyasu went on making back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16.
"It wasn't mistake because I got nervous, it was just careless miss shot."

He knew that he needed to work on some of his weak points and he had it control until last 3 holes.
"There is a huge difference when you rival makes birdie and I end up making par."

Naoyuki's tee shot on Par 3 17th was in left-side roughs, and on final Par 5 18th, his 2nd shot from right-side roughs hitting over the tree line went all the way right to 9th green, next door. He made bogey at the end and was beaten.
"Tomoyasu was playing so great. I lost today, but I am happy that I was able to play well in a same final grouping, battling face to face for the win. I know I am still in improving state, but I was having bad performance lately, so these scores I made this week wasn't possible until this week. If I could get this level of my game back, I know that my V2 is getting closer."

Naoyuki has earned the ticket to ZOZO Championship with 2T finish.
"I have only seen those star players on TV, so I am excited to see them directly. Probably the first thing I will think when I get there is that I will have the chance to see how much gap there is between them and myself. I want to learn from that experience and improve my game."
