Daisuke Yasumoto 14th year player at solo 4th after 2R, might be the chance for first Tour Card

14th year professional Daisuke Yasumoto played with 5 birdies to score 66 on 2R, moved up the ladder to solo 4th.
"I resulted 2 shot behind the leader at 4th, but content of my back nine game was a terrible mess. I am very satisfied with my score, but details of my game were really bad, and I was nervous wreck."

He started from 10th, and until 1st hole after his turn, he was 5 under for the day. But from 2nd hole where he got caught in several bunkers, he started to get into many troublesome moments. But he saved par with making 1 putts on rest of the holes except for 3rd. He fell into the roughs and bunkers, but he kept on saving pars. On the final 9th, his ball was buried, but got it out to 4-meters to the pin and finishes his round bogey free.

"Last week's course was narrow, but this Miyoshi CC also has very narrow fairways. This course has placed me under pressure, and I end up making mistakes and get caught up in the places you must avoid. I face the situations that this shot will never get close to the pin, but somehow those shots ended up okay and saved par. The whole rounds were like that, but I guess that is my style."

Daisuke is very skinny. His waist size is 68cm.
"I wrote my weight as 55kg on JGTO's official profile, but actually, when the I lose weight during the tournament and be less than 50kg. During the stay home period, I tried eating a lot, and got to 56kg, but I didn't feel well. "

He may be skinny but has powerful distance. Also, he is great on the green. Daisuke turned Pro in 2008. But he didn't have the chance to be on the Tour for long time, until he got the chance to be in the QT as he achieve the chance to fill in the spots for the international players who were not able to come to Japan due to pandemic.
"This pro-longed season is the first time for me to be playing on so many tournaments."

His golf got better after he became a father to a son 4 years ago.
"I really want to do well and have been fighting hard on QT every year. I never felt like quitting, but I am always afraid that when I might lose the chance to be in the tournaments."

He finished as 11T, his career best last week, and he ranks 76th on the Money List. He must push himself harder to be in the top 65 to gain his first Tour Card.
"I will try my best and place every effort in each and every shot."
