Japan Open Golf Championship 2021

Both winning at professional tournaments Riki & Keita all prepped to fight tough at Japan Open

2 super amateur are making a lot of noise at Biwako CC as they walk around the course. Everywhere they go, all of the top professionals will call out their names, "Riki" and "Keita". They are already fitting in as regulars in the Major tournaments.

Riki Kawatmot and Keita Namajima, both are students at Nippon Taiku University, and Riki is 1 grade elder. Keita is World No.1 Amateur and has won at the Panasonic Open last month to become the 5th amateur to win on the professional tournament. He says the fact that he has won hasn't struck him as reality yet.
"I have been congratulated by so many, but I am telling myself not to be carried away. I know there are so many things I must accomplish."

Keita is known to play aggressive and choses 1W on every holes, except the par 3s. He was pushing himself too hard and he WD last week due to back ache. So, this week he says, he will choose to lay up on maybe 4 holes. Keita earned his way to the Japan Open by winning the Japan Amateur Championship. He is wearing the uniform of the National Team, since many of the international events were cancelled due to the pandemic and he had not much chance to wear it.
"I must have in mind that I am representing the amateur players. That feelings make me motivated."

Riki Kawamoto is another great amateur, but he was shocked to see Keita play magnificently and won right in front of him. Riki himself scored 78 on the final round in the final group with Keita and finished at 20T.
"Keita hits with 1W but he has great control. He easily selects draw and fade balls, his 2nd shots are so aggressive and darts the pins. His course management is top class, and I was really shocked to he how much I was left behind."

But Riki won the cub-tour's AbemaTV Tour TI Challenge a week later.
"It was really gusty wind on the Final Round, but even on the tough pin positions, I was able to make great shots and putts."

Now, Riki also has proven he could win among the professionals. He has QT and Asian Amateur Championship waiting for him. But since this is his last year as a student, his amateur days are getting close to closure.
"My dream is to win on the Regular Tour as an amateur. I really want to win, but I know my possibilities are low. So, I will just do my best and do whatever I could."
