Japan Open Golf Championship 2021

Ryosuke Kinoshita 3T finish reaches 100million yen mark & gets back to No.1 on Money Rankings

Ryosuke Kinoshita finished 8 shots behind the winner Shaun Norris with 11 under at 3-way tie at 3rd. But the biggest purse of the Japan Tour gave him, 11,830,000 yen and his career earnings reached 100million yen mark. Also, he has returned to No.1 position on the Money Rankings.

This year's Japan Open was held nearby to Nara Prefecture where Ryosuke grew up. His coach and a professional Mami Sugimoto of the junior golf school, where Ryosuke attended from 6 grade in elementary school until he graduated his junior high, brought some of the current junior students to the tournament to cheer for Ryosuke on the weenends.

Ryosuke, along with Toru Taniguchi often visits the junior golf school and teaches them.
"I could not let them see me play awful."
Ryosuke's motivation led to consecutive birdies from 8th.
"I was really encouraged by the cheers given from the students."

Today was birthday of coach Mami. She thanked Ryosuke for showing how great he has become.
"I was glad that she was happy to see me get back as No.1 on the Money Rankings, but important part is to keep this position until the end. I must at least win 1 tournament in order to become Order of Merit Champion, so I must push myself harder from now on."

Next week's US PGA and JGTO co-sanctioned ZOZO Championship's prize money would not be added to the Money Rankings. But Ryosuke has been dreaming to challenge the US PGA in the future so next week's tournament is a big chance for him.
"I might have chance for the win since it will be on the Japanese course. I will do my best and challenge to win next week."
