Japan Open Golf Championship 2021

Yuki Inamori says, "I want to defeat my perennial nemesis Shaun and defend my title"

Yuki Inamori finished solo 3rd, 6 shots behind the leader Shaun Norris.
"I just knew that Shaun would make great charge. He seems unstoppable, but I don't want to lose."

Yuki is the winner of 2018 and 2020 Japan Open.
"I know that my feelings for the victory is stronger than anyone."
He is eager to challenge to defend his title and become 6th player to 3-peat at this Major.

He started out as 8T with 3 shots deficit. He made consecutive birdies start and added 4 more to make 6 birdies. He did have 2 bogeys he regrets but scored 67 and hanged on.

As for Shaun Norris on cruise control for victory route, Yuki was reminded about his 1st Tour victory back in 2018.
"Shaun was my perennial nemesis that time too."

Yuki started out as leader, but Shaun was charging with great performance from 5 shots back.
"I was watching the leader board and thought Shaun will come up, and he did as I feared. His game gets better towards the end. He easily makes 4 in a row, 5 in a row birdies."

In 2018, Yuki was able to shake Shaun off with 2 shots and won the Major title.
"Imagine being chased by a tank like player as Shaun. You will be terrified. It is much better to go after him, rather being chased by him. I will keep my strategy tomorrow and stay on the fairways. As for putts, I want to avoid down slope, so I would rather be short and have a good uphill line which will be easier to control. I will build up one at the time. I will fight hard tomorrow and try to catch up with him."

If Yuki succeeds, all of his 3 victories will be Japan Open.
