ANA Open Golf Tournament 2021

Tomoyo Ikemura finishes 2T after 1R with magic word "I'm Shugo" to trick his mind to gain confidence

With an inspiration on his practice round, Tomoyo Ikemura changed his putter and placed 3 wedges to tackle the nasty deep roughs. This change was perfect decision and gave himself 30 on his score card on his front nine.

Tomoyo Ikemura, on his 9th year as professional made eagle on 5th, by making 208 yards 2nd shot with 6I to 6 meters. His shots were accurate and hot, just like Shugo Imahira, who Tomoyo admires.

Before Tomoyo started out today, he watched Shugo Imahira practice at the range and his eyes and soul was stolen.
"The sounds of the shots, the trajectory, and everything was so perfect. I stood there and stared at him. I didn't recognize that I was staring at him until Shugo smiled at me and said, aren't you going to practice? He was so curious why I just stood there. I was watching Shugo for such a long time, I only had time to practice about 20 balls, but the image that I gained was perfect. So, during my round, I was telling myself that I'm Shugo, and it worked. All of my shots were all sticking to the pin. On my back nine, with the strong wind factor making things difficult, it got tough to play, but my front nine 30 saved me."

Tomoyo finished with 6 under, just 1 shot behind the leader. Shugo Imahira finished his 1R with 3 under at 22T but is all motivated to make 2 wins in a row.
"I will continue to tell myself that I'm Shugo tomorrow too", said Tomoyo. May be that magic world might bring miracle on Sunday.
