Co-leader after 2R Tomoharu Otsuki looking very optimistic for the weekend

Tomoharu Otsuki had to play his remaining holes from 1R early this morning, and his start for 2R was delayed for 50 minutes.

He was second group from last to start and his tee off was at 14:05. By the time he reached his final hole it was after 18:00.
"Sunset was really bright in my eyes, and it was difficult to hit towards it. It was hard to read the green undulations, so I think if it wasn't that condition, I could have made more birdies."

He seems to regret the situation, but he did make 3 straight birdies from 1st to 3rd hole, on his back nine, to finish with 66 and jump up to top tie onto the weekends.

Shota Akiyoshi in the same group made double eagle on final 9th, and Tomoharu also becoming Top tie at the end, this group had an exciting round.

On this pro-longed 2020-21 season, Tomoharu has finished in Top 10 8 times, including 5 Top 5s. He seems to be playing very well but not enough to grab the victory. He now ranks at 6th on Money List, but he is without a win.
"I am looking very forward to the weekend."

Maybe this is the week might become his chance to achieve his 2nd Tour victory since Kaisai Open back in 2019.
