JAPAN PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP by Sato Shokuhin 2021

Katsumasa Miyamoto makes a big leap to solo leader position with bogey free 64

Inaugural event is lead by 48 years old veteran, Katsumasa Miyamoto who has made 8 birdies and without a bogey to score 64 and became a solo leader after R2."
"In score of 100 points being perfect I say my round today was 120 points. My shots were precise and putting was even better. Every putt went in. I had luck help out several times too. Everything went so well. I enjoyed so much until today. But I am not so sure about the weekends. When you score so good and everything goes as I wish, you get greedy and think you are better that your real self. I must be aware that last 2 days will be tough competition."

Katsumasa has decided to move on to Senior Tour from next season, so this year will he his last to fully appear on the Regular Tour. He has finished as 7th on this year's opening event and became a runner-up last week.
"I have been able to perform well since the start of this year. I was losing my confidence, so I have learned that if I try to overcome my low esteem, I still have the chance. I am playing very well and with a great score like today surly gives me confidence."

Katsumasa was Players' Committee's Chairman back in 2008 and 2009. He is so concerned about how Japan Tour will make topic on the Yahoo news rankings.
"How is the JLPGA Tour going this week. I really think of them as rivals as men's Japan Tour news fades away pretty quick as Erika Hara making a hole-in-one comes up as top new. We must do better to be on the top of the sports news too."

"This week, Players' Committee is challenging to do something so new and challenging. I know that executive member has paid so much effort and time to make this happen. I think it is great to have serious meetings among the players and come up with trail games like this to make Japan Tour more interesting and better. I really wish these wishes will reach the golf fans. I wish I could be the part of it and earn more promotion time on the news. If I could score 58, that might help, but that's pretty tough task to accomplish."
