JAPAN PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP by Sato Shokuhin 2021

"Of the players, by the players, for the fans" Chairman and Chief Organizer at press conference

First time ever, a Tournament all organized by the player will be held in Japan Tour, and the Japan Golf Tour Players' Chairman, Ryuko Tokimtasu and Yuta Ikeda, the Co-chairman and the Executive Director spoke at the press conference.

During this inaugural tournament, Ryuko will act as Tournament Chairman and Yuta will be the Chief Organizer.

Both expressed their gratitude on again to the supporting sponsor and the course, organizing staff and the companies. They also express how it was difficult to act on the organizing side. They have gone through tough times attaining the tournament sponsor, and had to negotiate with the venue golf course, setting and preparation of the course, course survey prior to the starting day, and COVID-19 infection controls.
"I can't name them all, but it was a long list of things to accomplish. I don't know which was the toughest task to handle, but we struggled all the way through."

But when the tournament starts, they must concentrate on their games.
"144 players will be in the field and it will surely great if I can become No.1. But on the other hand, I might sound too greedy as I was background staff until today. So, it may not sound like my usual self that I would aggressively say that I will aim for the win. But still when I get of the Sunday back nine, I want to be the most aggressive one toward the victory", said Yuta Ikeda.

Ryuko also spoke in organizing stance.
"We have lost so many tournaments last year due to the pandemic and we wanted to provide the players a place to perform. Also, as the Players' Chairman I wish for all the players to play their best performance."

But there is one problem. As the Tournament Chairman, Ryuko will be doing the presentation of the trophy. What if Ryuko wins?
"If that wonderful surprise happens, I will ask President Sato of the Sato Shokuhin, or Aoki Chairman of JGTO, or co-chairmans of the Players' Committee Ryo Ishikawa or Tatsuya Kodai."

Hearing this, Ryo Ishikawa responded, "I was wondering about that too. I hope I won't be the person presenting the trophy and want to be the player receiving it".
