Fujisankei Classic 2020

New Player's Chairman Ryuko Tokimatsu climbs up the ladder to solo 2nd

May be from the pressure as the new appointed Player's Chairman, Ryuko Tokimtasu was suffering on his rounds until yesterday, but he marked the best score tie 65 on R3 and finished solo 2nd, 1 shot behind the leader going into Sunday.

His momentum came suddenly at his starting hole as he holed in his 2nd shot from 144 yards to grab an eagle. He did still have difficulties with his putter and have made four 3-putts in past 2 days, but he recalls, "on the other hand my iron shots were hot". He went on to make 6 birdies and jumped up to solo 2nd, gained a spot in final group tomorrow.

Ryuko was nervous wreck on September 3rd, since he had to make an oath at the Opening Ceremony on behalf of the players.
"I was nervous to play, but I was way too nervous for that Opening Ceremony. I am glad that I was able to give the pledge properly, but I really got exhausted."

Ryuko started out the tournament slowly with 1 over Par for R1 but started to get into the rhythm on R2 with 2 under play, then he really got on the roll on R3 and placed himself in the winner's circle.

If he could accomplish to win as Player's Chairman, that will be spectacular.
"Yuta Ikeda, Yusaku Miyazato, and Ryo Ishikawa, 3 of my successors has done it, so I wish I could do so."

His job as the Player's Chairman made him work just like a regular businessman as he had to do remote conferences at least once a week. But co-Chairman Yuta Ikeda, Ryo Ishikawa and Tatsuya Kodai supported him.
"I was the one who was helped and supported, so I shouldn't complain."

But as he anticipated, his practice time was taken away.
"I know winning as Player's Chairman is really tough to do, and not easy to wish for even."
Ryuko seems to be controlling his greed and trying to only concentrate only on his game tomorrow.
