Dunlop Phoenix Tournament 2020

Atomu Shigenaga becomes leader after 1R at Dunlop Phoenix with bogey free round

Atomu Shigenaga almost holed-in-one at Par 3 (180 yards) 17th.
"My shots were perfect today. 1W always went straight onto center of the fairway. That is my game."

Atomu has gained his game back and played bogey free round of 65 on R1 to become solo leader on Day 1 at Dunlop Phoenix. Atomu is diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, which is specified as an incurable disease. So, usually by the end of the season, he is warned out but "this year I had lots of time to work on my swing", smiled Atomu.

He started his club fitting in the beginning of September.
"Callaway supported me by coming to every tournament to adjust. Craftsman also came to my hometown Kumamoto Prefecture and done final tuning for me. Thanks to that, I got my perfect gears. I have added 4g to my club head and made my shaft stiffer, which game me good transition timing on my downswing. It is almost end of this season, but I think my swing is perfect now."

"My iron shots were desirable, and as for putting I changed it yesterday, but it worked great. Everything seems to be melting into perfect game and I was able to score great today."

"I know this course is really tough, so I am being very careful on course management. Maybe that is saving me from making big mistakes."
