Japan PGA Championship 2019

Jung-Gon Hwang "The key for the great round is"

Jung-Gon Hwang scored bogey free 6 under and became the 3-way co-leader with Ryo Ishikawa and Hiroyuki Fujita on the Frist Round of this year's 2nd Major, Japan PGA Championship. It was Jung-Gon's first time to actually play the Ibusuki Golf Club, but his play didn't seem like it and made a perfect round.

Jung-Gon says the key for the great round here is to keep in the fairways. He kept the fairways 15/18 today. His shot accuracy and stability lead to the bogey free round.
"In the steep up and down hilly course like this, you must have good tee shots. There are similar courses like this in my home country Korea but roughs on the Japanese courses are tougher."

Shugo Imahira also said that the key to tackle this course is keep it in the fairways.
"I didn't go deadly to the pin, but I ended up getting many birdies."

He had a bad shot on Par 5 8th, where he shot too big out of the green side bunker and lead to a bogey. But that was the only bogey for the day, and he scored 5 under, tied at 4th. Shugo's best finish so far this season is solo 2nd. He is looking forward for getting a victory and also a Major title under his belt really soon.
