HEIWA PGM CHAMPIONSHIP 2019

Okinawa players gather to make "One Team" for rebuilding of the World's Heritage Shuri Castle

Right after the Wednesday's Pro-Am of the Heiwa PGM Championship, players who are from Okinawa Prefecture gathered around to talk about making a "One Team" to support the reconstruction of the World's Heritage Shuri Castle which has destroyed by fire last week.

Terumichi Kakazu, Ryuji Masaoka, Kazuki Higa, and Yusaku & Kiyoshi Miyazato brothers gather for a talk.

Terumichi Kakazu, 8th year in the Tour started out saying, "I wanted to talk with my seniors from same Okinawa Prefecture about the Shuri Castle. That Shuri Castle is World's Heritage, but its more than that to us. It is our symbol, but it's gone, destroyed. I wanted to do whatever we could to help rebuilt it. Especially this week's tournament is in Okinawa and Yusaki Miyazato who has been in the EPGA Tour is back here in Okinawa too. I thought this is the best timing to gather to discuss."

Yusaki Miyazato was broken hearted to hear the disaster on the news. Shuri Castle was under reconstruction which just ended in January this year.
"I just can't believe that it is all burned down. I have heard that over 200 million yens has been already donated through cloud funding. But in order to rebuilt, it is said that 20 billion yen is needed. Even we do get enough donations to rebuild, there is no craftsman who can make the symbolic red roof tiles. So, it may never be rebuilt the way it used to. But we all want to bring it back. And we would like to do whatever we could to help."

Yusaku was glad to here Terumichi's offer and told him to be the leader for the players from Okinawa. Terumichi was overwhelmed to here this but promised to work hard. At this moment, they have set donation boxes around the course.
"I don't know what is best for us, the players could do. I will go talk to the Player's Chairman Ryo Ishikawa for advices and work things out. There more than us 5 players who are in this field this week. So, just like Rugby, we as a One Team would like to power up and give back. Donations is one thing, but first of all we should all play well this week and give power to our home town Okinawa."
