Kansai Open Golf Championship 2019

New 3 Tour co-event on calendar pumps H W Ryu up to the Top of the leader board

38 years old but not so old yet, but Hyun-Woo Ryu comments that his back is aching due to the tough up and down slopes of the course.
"I have to admit, that I got tired from my back nine."

As he said, he had 5 birdies on his front half and added 2 more after the turn, but with some of fatigue maybe, he made 2 bogeys on his back nine. But he succeeded to finish with 67, totaled at 11 under and sat the top of the leader board.
"My iron shots were sharp today and it gave me many chances."

He is in great position going on to the weekend, but he has another reason to be much motivated for this week's victory. In September this year, new event has been announced on the schedule. "Shinhan Donghae Open" which will be first ever co-hosted tournament by Japan, Korea and Asian Tours. The new and awaited event will be held in Hyun-Woo's home country and many Korean young players are really excited. Also, since Hyun-Woo has the Tour Card in all 3 Tours, many Japan Tour's young players are already asking him to play the practice round with them.

"As one of the veteran players, I would like to earn my ticket to enter that event by playing really well."

With that in mind, Hyun-Woo really seeks to gain his victory that has been away for 3 years.
"I wish to win all of the tournaments, but it must be one at a time. I will play 1 shot at the time from tomorrow as always."
