Dunlop Phoenix Tournament 2019

Shugo Imahira kept his rhythm to finish as co-leader nevertheless of so many interruptions

Current No.1 money leader had a busy round wearing and taking off his rain wears for the whole day but managed to play as usual under the difficult circumstances.
"It was heavy rain and my tee shots couldn't find the fairways, so I did have hard time today."

But Shugo managed to keep it in play by making great 2nd shots and made him so many chances. At one point, he was 7 under total, but with 2 bogeys on his ending holes, he finished with 3 birdies and 4 bogeys to score 71. His over par play made way for Yuta Ikeda to share co-leader after Round 2.

Shugo dislikes wearing jackets while his swing.
"I really don't like wearing the rain jackets during my game, but today it was really cold, so I had no choice. I took off my jacket since the shots were not going straight but even without the jacket, it didn't change. But overall, I think I kept my patience and managed."

On the staring hole, Hideki Matsuyama ended up scoring "9" with multiple accidents, and another playing partner Cameron Champ's shots were going all over the place, but none of these happenings bothered Shugo.

Actually, nothing seems to interfere. He was very surprised to hear that Shaun Norris, current No.2 on Money List, has WD due to sickness.
"As for the Order of Merit race with Shaun, I would rather not think about it until the JT Cup."

Shugo has finished 3 times in Top 10 out of his 4 appearances at Dunlop Phoenix, so he really likes this course. His plan is simple and well planned. First win this week to make his 2nd season victory, and also make a big leap toward the defending the Order of Merit title
