Day 1 leader with 4 under finish, Danthai Boonma's favorite dish is "sea urchin"

23 years old, Danthai Boonma from Thailand sit at the top of the leaderboard with 4 under 67. He gained the ticket to this week's tournament, which is co-hosted by Japan and Asian Tour, with the 23rd ranking on the last season's Asian Tour Money Ranking.

He managed to play the 1st Round bogey free 67, including an eagle and 2 birdies. It was tough windy condition today at the Sobu CC, but he used his low trajectory technique effectively.
"This is very narrow course, so I stuck my course management to keeping the fairways and target the green from front side."

As he said, he played safely at the times, but he took the chance on the 8th with downhill putt and got an eagle on his scorecard.

"I plan to be in the Japan Tour field mostly this season. I want to gain as much as I can on this week's tournament since it is co-hosted. I can gain points for both of my tours."

Danthai is from Phitsanulok, northern part of Thailand. He started to play golf learning from his father when he was 7 years old. As an amateur, he won the gold medal in group and individual at 2013 Southeast Asian Championship. In 2014, in Youth Olympics he was bronze medalist and in Asian Games he won the bronze medal for the group.

He has turned Pro in 2015. He won on his first year as a Pro, and gained his Tour Card in Asian Tour, but he aimed to get experience in his favorite country, Japan. He challenged for Final QT last December and finished at 49th.

His first event in Japan was on Challenge Tournament's Abema TV Tour in April, which he made an introduction to the Japanese fans with a bang, winning the tournament. He is new comer, but seems to be getting use to it smoothly.

His favorite Japanese food is Sushi, and his favorite dish is sea urchin, which shows that his tongue is already Japanized.
"It will be great if I want to finish with good result in this tournament and gain the ticket to play on Japan Tour."
