Ryo seek for the chance to give back

Ryo Ishikawa will be the Host Pro of this week's Casio World Open. He has come up with new event for the spectators on Thursday and Friday qualifying rounds called "Cheering Tour" (*)

"I do not expect to do super great suddenly this week, but I have done what I have to, so I wish to play well."

This June, Chairman and CEO of Casio, Kazuo Kashio has deceased at the age of 89. Casio has been Ryo's sponsor since 2013. Always has given warm and strong support for Ryo.
"When I first met Mr. Kashio, he told me to never be satisfied with the current status. Always aim higher. Do not get caught in preconceived ideas and keep pursuing your golf. He kept on stirring me up every time we met."

Mr.Kashio kept on building high quality technologies and has made Casio a worldly well-known leading company.

"His words motivated me and gave me power. He helped me build my golf style. He told me to become an innovator in golf world. I do not completely understand what he was asking me to become, but I feel like I have a big homework left to do."

In 2016, Ryo wanted to pair up with Hideki Matsuyama to play in ISPS Handa World Cup, with coincided with the Casio event, Mr. Kashio gladly told Ryo to go for that World Cup. On Tuesday, at the pre-event party, video was shown in the memories of Mr. Kashio. Ryo spoke as Host Pro and as Players' Chairman.
"I had 2 chances to almost win. But I could not show Mr. Kashio my win. I really wish I could have done it."

In 2015 and in 2017, Ryo has finished 2nd twice. Ryo regrets that he couldn't give back to Mr. Kashio.
"I really wanted to win in front of Mr. Kashio, but I couldn't."

This week all of the professional caddies will be wearing black band with the "G-SHOCK" logo in them as condolence to the Mr. Kashio.
"I really have special thoughts for this week"
Ryo really hopes to grab the win and deliver his gratitude to Mr. Kashio.

(*) What is "Cheering Tour"?
Tour will be guided by Hidemichi Tanaka, he will analyze and guide the group of spectators on special tour walking along Ryo Ishikawa's qualifying rounds.
It will be held on Nov.22 and 23, each day will be 15 persons max.
The entry will start 7 am, at down the slope on back of the 9th green.
In case of too many applications, we will hold a draw for place allocation.
