Order of Merit race Shugo vs Shaun: Day 1 turns out to be a huge difference

If Shugo Imahira finishes better than 3rd tied this week, he will grab the Order of Merit title. With that in mind, Shugo made a great first round by marking 6 under 66 and became one of the co-leaders.

Due to the bad weather, the tee off times were delayed for more than 90 minutes. In windy condition, Shugo made a bogey free round.
"I knew that Shaun will be charging too. But it's only Day 1, you can't get too conscience yet."

Shaun Norris was at 3 under for his front nine. But during the 1 hour wait time before he hit to his back nine, shocking incident occurred to Shaun. Shaun made a huge mistake at the practice green during the break time. He had practice devise on the ground during his putting. Which is against the rule 14-3, "Artificial Devices and Unusual Equipment; Abnormal Use of Equipment". Sadly, Shaun didn't recognize his wrong doing and started his back nine. But everything started to fall apart, he had 4 bogeys in a row, and also made bogeys on 6th and 9th hole. He went way down to 3 over par, and he was also shocked to find out that he was given 2 shot penalty do to breaking the rule 14-3.

Eventually Shaun was 5 under, tied at 91st for Day 1. What a miserable day.
"It was an awful day. So shocked, but I have to set my mind change and concentrate tomorrow."

If Shugo finishes not better than 4 men tied in 3rd, Shaun will still have a chance next week, regardless of him missing the cut this week.
"I know Shugo in in great shape, but if he doesn't win this week, I still have the chance."

The battle for the Order of Merit race started off with a huge difference between Shugo and Shaun. Who knows what will happen next.
