Matsuyama signs off with 69, ends Masters quest in T12

Hideki Matsuyama signed off from The Masters with his best score of the week by carding three-under-par 69 on Sunday at Augusta National.

Showing flashes of his trademark precision and resilience throughout the final round, the 2021 Masters champion finished in tied-12th place on five-under-par 283, alongside Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Patrick Cantlay and Jason Day, after posting earlier rounds of 72, 70 and 72.

Matsuyama was making his 15th Masters start in 2026 and won the 2021 Masters by one shot over Will Zalatoris to become Japan's first male major champion.

He was the sole Japanese player remaining in the field after 2025 Japan Open champion Naoyuki Kataoka missed the cut after rounds of 84 and 75.

Ends.
