Golf Nippon Series JT Cup 2025

Ogiso ends year on a high, Kaneko seals money ranking title at season-ending Golf Nippon Series JT Cup

Takashi Ogiso signed off from his 2025 JGTO season on a high note by claiming the season-ending Golf Nippon Series JT Cup with a five-under-par 65 at the Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club on Sunday.

Ogiso’s winning total of 13-under-par 267 saw him claim his second JGTO title by two shots over Yusaku Hosono, who posted a 66, while overnight co-leader Taiki Yoshida’s bid for his maiden win was prolonged after he carded to 68 to finish in outright third place.

Kota Kaneko sealed the JGTO Money ranking title after his lead at the top of the ranking became unassailable when he finished tied-seventh with a 276 total.

Entering the final round tied for the lead with Yoshida and Korea’s Song Yong-han, Ogiso parred his first four holes before a birdie and an eagle on the fifth and sixth holes saw him break away from the chasing pack.

After turning in 32, he picked up further gains on holes 13, 14 and 17. Despite dropping a shot on the closing 18, the 28-year-old’s return to the winner’s circle was confirmed as his closing rival, Hosono, also bogeyed the 18th to fall out of contention.

Reflecting on his second JGTO win since his breakthrough at the Hana Bank Invitational last year, Ogiso said: “I’ve always wanted to win in Japan. If I hadn’t won here, I would’ve remained with just that one victory in Korea, and I would have felt that something was still missing.

“Everything I’ve worked on throughout the year finally came together. My coach and I have been making swing adjustments and tackling various tasks, and as I was able to do so many more things than before, I think that growth led to this victory today,” said Ogiso.

Meanwhile, Kaneko, who won twice this season, admitted the weight of his JGTO money ranking win finally sank in after he signed his card.

“It finally dawned upon me that I’m now a JGTO money ranking champion when I finished the round. The biggest change in my game this year has been my putting. I’m also able to play better under pressure.

“Clinching the money ranking title is also the result of the support from many people. They include my coaches, trainers, and everyone around me,” said the 23-year-old.
