Matsuyama set to delight home fans as he returns for Dunlop Phoenix Tournament

Hideki Matsuyama is back home, ready to put up a performance befitting of his status as one of Japan’s most decorated golf stars when the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament gets underway on Thursday.
As the third last season of the 2025 JGTO season, the JPY 180 million event will also play a pivotal role in shaping the JGTO Money race, which Kota Kaneko, who has won twice this year, currently leads.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, which will be played at the Phoenix Country Club in Miyazaki prefecture, Matsuyama, the 2021 Masters champion and 11-time winner on the PGA Tour said: “I am very happy to be able to participate in the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament again this year.
“It’s always nice to come home and play good golf in front of the fans. The warmth and reception I get from them is always special too and I’ll do my best to repay them in the same way with my golf on the course.”
The Dunlop Phoenix Tournament has always attracted several international players, and the likes of Carson Bacha, Davis Shore, Nick Dunlap, together with JGTO regulars Justin De Los Santos of the Philippines, South Africa’s Shaun Norris and New Zealand’s Michael Hendry will be in action in the 84-man field.
Hideki will began his campaign by playing alongside Hideto Tanihara and Satoshi Kodaira at 9.08am (local time).
Ends.
