JGTO mourns the passing of Ebisawa

The Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of its former Chairman and Honorary Chairman, Katsuji Ebisawa, who passed away on October 19 at the age of 91.
Ebisawa, who also served as President of NHK, joined the JGTO Board of Directors in 2008 and was appointed Chairman in 2012, serving two terms over four years. During his tenure, he made outstanding contributions to the growth of men’s professional golf in Japan.
Through his leadership and extensive international network, Ebisawa strengthened ties with overseas tours and played a key role in establishing co-sanctioned tournaments, providing Japanese players with greater opportunities to compete on the global stage.
After being named Honorary Chairman in 2016, he continued to support the development of men’s professional golf and the activities of the JGTO until his passing.
The JGTO extends its deepest condolences to Ebisawa’s family and mourns the loss of a visionary leader whose contributions will be long remembered.
