Dunlop Phoenix Tournament 2021

Yusaku Miyazato, who suffer COVID-19 infection showed his appreciation by wearing totally blue

1R of the Dunlop Phoenix Open was dedicated to send appreciations to the medical and health care worker. Every player wore something blue on their outfit to show the appreciation, and especially Yusaku Miyazato was wearing blue in gradation from top to bottom.

"I was infected with COVID, and I was directly saved by the medical and health care workers."

 

In July, after 1R of Shigeo Nagashima Invitational SegaSammy Cup, Yusaku found out he was infected and withdrew from the tournament. He suffered days of over 40 degrees Celsius fever and sent to hospital by ambulance.

"I saw and was saved by the medical and health care workers. I am really thankful that the tournament has organized this wonderful dedication day."

 

He went through full month of rehabilitation and came back to the Tour from Panasonic Open in September. He was lucky and didn't suffer any serious prognostic symptoms, but his game is not back to his best state.

 

Yusaku changed his putter to long one, by getting effected by Kodai Ichihara. He played his 1R with 3 birdies and 3 bogeys to be Even for the day and finished as 45T.

 

He won this tournament back in 2015.

"That is too long time ago and I can't even remember. But this is one tournament that every player wants to win. I will not hold back and try to win too."
